Conference calling, or three-way calling (as that was the maximum amount of numbers that could be on a conference call years ago), is a commonly used feature on our Cisco phones. There are a couple of different scenarios regarding conference calling: one where we initiate the conference call or one where we want to conference in current calls. These both have slightly different ways to accomplish three-way calling.

To initiate a conference call:

  • Place the first call
  • After the first call answers press the Conference button
  • Dial the second number (the active call will be placed on Hold)
  • After the second call answers press the Conference button again
  • All parties will be in the conference

In our phone system you can have up to five callers (including yourself) on a conference call. To add additional callers to your conference call simply repeat the above procedure:

  • Place the third call (the active conference will be placed on Hold)
  • After the third call answers press the Conference button
  • Dial the forth number (the active conference will be placed on Hold again)
  • After the forth call answers press the Conference button again
  • You will see a display on your phone screen that will read You have reached the maximum number of participants
  • All parties will be in the conference

To conference in a current call:

  • Be on the phone with a current call
  • Press the Conference button (the current call will be on Hold)
  • Dial or pick-up the second call (if dialing wait for the call to answer)
  • Press the Conference button again

You can keep the conference active and remove yourself by selecting the End call button.
